Highlighted Terms and Conditions
Car rental is a complex and heavily regulated business. We have extensive terms and conditions, but since most fall under common sense, we would instead like to bring our customers’ attention to the most important points given below.
YOU MUST HAVE A VALID DRIVING LICENSE FOR JAPAN
Attempting to pick up a car without a valid driving license will result in a cancellation and no refund. Any member of your group with a valid licence for Japan may drive the vehicle. Please ensure that you understand what licenses are required before letting someone drive the car. See our page here for license information. Note that various fake and fraudulent “international driving licenses” are on sale on the Internet, some with high Google rankings. Beware of online scams.
THERE IS ZERO TOLERANCE FOR DRINKING AND DRIVING IN JAPAN
The limit is zero. It is not “one beer” or “a small glass of wine”. Driving under the influence will invalidate all insurance on the car. If you are involved in an accident, you will have to pay for all damage and medical expenses, will be subject to huge fine from the Japanese police, and could easily go to prison, even for an accident principally caused by another vehicle.
WE ARE A BEST EFFORT SERVICE
We rent cars to people unused to driving in difficult road conditions, including snow and ice. This means we have higher exposure to accidents than rental companies in other areas with easier driving conditions. We therefore accept reservations on a “best effort” basis, meaning we retain the right to cancel and refund reservations in full when a car is unavailable due to an accident or other reasons beyond our control. We do not have a full fleet of standby cars. We will do our best to provide a car to everyone with a reservation, but cannot guarantee anything will be available. Beyond refunding the rental fee, we are not liable for any further damages in this situation.
